Vintage Show Sheep Tee
Sheep are warm and fuzzy. Well they are fuzzy. Their wool can get very thick. Sheep are raised to show, to eat, to breed, to ride, yes ride. Haven’t you ever heard of mutton bustin? Since little kids are too small to ride a bull at the rodeo, they provide sheep instead, wooly sheep! The more wooly they are the better. Reason? So the rider has more to hold onto. It is a wooly business.
Sheep are also shown in the show ring and can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars. But in order to be shown, the sheep must have their wool shaved off. Yes, shaved to the skin. It takes a lot of work and time to shave a sheep. But wait! What do they do with all the wool? Make a sweater of course.
I absolutely love this t shirt, and I love being a show mom! It is so cute. I wanted a vintage look and feel. Show season usually starts in early fall and goes through early spring. We have shown livestock in the rain, snow, sleet, and extreme heat. None of these conditions are fun to be in but as long as we are doing something as a family, we have no complaints. It is a blessing to be able to show and there is a lot of expense involved. “We use to have money, but now we have show sheep.”
As a rural girl, I was involved in the 4-h club and later in the FFA. I think it should be a requirement for everyone to participate in these wonderful organizations. I understand that wouldn’t be realistic but at least it sounded good. Some of my most fond childhood memories were made by showing livestock or baking cookies.
